Did you know the hashtag #goddess is banned/not to be found on instagram? Supposedly it is because a lot of unsavory images were attached to the hashtag, but I doubt it was that many vs other hashtags. I don’t believe many use the word goddess often and I find that troublesome. Goddesses like Gods should be adored and celebrated. Goddess- is a very positive reference to a woman and it’s true- I only roll with goddesses and you should too. Just like you should only want to roll with gods- the male version of a goddess. 🙂
We’ve been struggling with our roles- what it is being male and female. It still needs to be sorted out and it feels like the time is ripe. Through the women’s suffrage movement, women received the right to vote. Women started working more vs being homemakers, and women lost being able to be and celebrate being women- because so much emphasis was on “women are no different vs men”. It’s confusing to men too.
Newsflash! Men and women are different- we are not the same. We are two halves that can make a whole (not saying we can only be whole with the other) and we have different strengths and weaknesses- like yin and yang.
Women are highly adaptable and people pleasers and will kill ourselves trying to do it all. Men are “hunters”. Hunter mentality conserves energy- so they are happy to let us do it all, but it’s not good for them either. It’s scientfically noted, that women are producing more testosterone and men more estrogen. You’ve probably witnessed your co-workers more closely resembling the opposite sex? So not good on so many levels.
Many women today don’t like to say they’re feminists. Being a feminist has gotten a bad rap. In part, because it’s confusing- everyone has a different meaning they associate it with. Plus, it seems like if you are a feminist you are not for men. Finally, everyone is realizing that we are different.
Feminist or not- we all should be for men and women. Women should receive equal pay for doing the same job as a man. Women should be able to work if they choose to. But women like men cannot do it all. We need each other. And we need to celebrate what the other brings to the table.
Since we are talking about rolling with goddesses- I wanted to share PBS’s: The Women’s List: Meet 15 women who define contemporary American culture in Timothy Greenfield-Sanders’ new “List” film featuring Madeleine Albright, Margaret Cho, Edie Falco, Betsey Johnson, Alicia Keys, Nancy Pelosi, Rosie Perez, Wendy Williams and more. All trailblazers in their fields, these women share their experiences struggling against discrimination and overcoming challenges to make their voices heard.
Whether you’re a goddess or a god, I think you will enjoy. It celebrates things we all have in one way or another experienced- failure, loss, love, success. Let’s celebrate and support each other. Ask for help and realize it’s ok not to do it all. We are here having a human experience afterall. 🙂
p.s. This is not to say if you want to be a she-man or a he-woman you shouldn’t be able to be just that. But generally speaking (hetrosexual partnerships), most women want a man vs a pussywillow, and most men want a woman- not a dude.
